“Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown again into instant flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light.” – Dr. Albert Schweitzer
Here we will discuss and explore websites and blogs, books, conferences and most importantly, people who are living abundantly after their own catastrophes.
“Because of Katie” is my first book about living through (and after) a catastrophe. You can read it on a Kindle or in paperback form (available HERE from amazon.com), and you can certainly order it from your own local, independent bookstore – please do! (If you would like to request your public library to carry it, you can read it for free.)
I have produced a set of DVDs which is designed to teach medical personnel about Family-Centered Care, which was created for Seattle Children’s Hospital. It covers some of the same material as the book, but is in live interview format. It includes interviews with Katie’s caregiving team: two surgeons, an ICU doctor, physical therapist, child life worker, social worker, chaplain and hospice nurse. This set of DVDs will be available for sale in the autumn of 2012.
